Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. The unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
Unit Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1. examine the nature of different asset classes and the ways in which professional
managers incorporate and manage asset classes;
2. apply various techniques to analyse and select equities in equity investment;
3. understand the skills and techniques used by professionals who are involved in funds
management, and wealth creation;
4. understand the importance of professional investment in wealth creation;
5. understand the importance of ethical practices by investment professionals and the
CFA Institute code of ethics and standards of professional conduct; and,
6. apply critical thinking, problem solving and presentation skills to individual and/or
group activities dealing with equities and investment analysis and demonstrate in an individual summative assessment task the acquisition of a comprehensive understanding of the topics covered by BFC3241.
